The Space City Aero Team Leads are committed to increasing the presence of aerospace engineering on UH campus. Below are uthe SC Aero Team Leads for the 2025-2026 term.
Francesco Bitetto
Chief Engineer
Francesco (he/him) is a sophomore mechanical engineering student with a passion for building things. He joined SCA in 2024 becoming an aerodynamics specialist. He is now the Chief Engineer.
Gabriel Rivas
Systems Engineer
Gabriel (he/him) is a senior mechanical engineering student. He joined AIAA in Fall 2022 and became Space City Aero Avionics subteam lead in Spring 2023 until last semester. He enjoys creating hands-on projects (including an 80s arcade machine and 3-D printed models), materials science, gaming, archery, and collecting cards. He is excited to graduate and start his career in the aerospace industry.
Emir Ancin
Project Manager
Emir (he/him) is a senior majoring in mechanical engineering. He joined AIAA Space City Aero in Fall 2024 and has since served as Automation & Controls lead and Chief Engineer. He has a passion for airplane design, astronomy, problem-solving, and playing guitar. He is looking forward to building more planes with SCA and competing in this year’s Design-Build-Fly competition.
Rahul Kancherla
Aerodynamics STL
Rahul (he/him) is a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He has been part of AIAA for 2 years and has done everything from booking rooms to making flyers to building a plane. He is excited to be apart of what the org accomplishes this year.
Shane Abbott
Structures STL
Shane (he/him) is a sophomore in mechanical engineering with an interest in RF technology. He joined AIAA in 2024 and has been part of Space City Aero and HAM since, dabbling in all aspects when he has the time. He has a passion for hands-on projects, real world testing, and the building/maintenance of machines.
