Who We Are

If you love rocketry, aviation, engineering, and space exploration, you’ve come to the right place.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics – University of Houston Chapter is devoted to increasing the presence of aerospace engineering on the UH campus. This mission is achieved through professional development of our members, providing a home for competitive project-based teams in the area of aerospace, giving a platform to professional speakers in the industry, and community outreach.

The University of Houston chapter of AIAA was reestablished in 2015 after a ten year hiatus to fill the need for aerospace and aviation interests of students. We host four engineering teams to give our members the chance to gain hands-on fabrication, management, and teamwork skills, in addition to hosting guest speakers from the aerospace industry, recruiting events, and socials for members to engage in professional development.

Our student organization partners with the AIAA Houston chapter to connect our members with their professional resources for aerospace in the Houston area. This includes technical events and networking with their members, many of which are aerospace professionals for NASA’s Johnson Space Center and its contractors.

AIAA-UH also has a strong history of community engagement. We assist annually in UH’s Mars Rover Celebration event for Houston area elementary and middle school students to encourage them to study STEM. We have also worked with local high school rocketry projects to inspire those students to continue their engineering interests in college.
